Jaeger the Secretary - ooak posable art doll by Jerseydays Jaeger the Secretary - ooak posable art doll by Jerseydays
‘Jaeger the blue eyed secretary’ – one of a kind handmade soft sculpture

This bird is a character and a commission by :iconsinistereternity: and I thank her so much for giving me the opportunity to make a secretary! Hurray!

My sister :iconrieke-b: and I work together on art dolls and soft sculptures. I sculpt with polymer clay, make the armature, sew the body and Rieke does all the painting (visit her gallery to find many, many wonderful paintings)

Jaeger (German for ‘hunter’) is fully posable from head to toes and can even open and close his beak.

Okay, so I've been trying to figure this out and I haven't quite been able to get the hang of it, so maybe you could give me some tips. I'm doing a couple dolls like this for a school project and I want to give one a mouth that can open and close, but I can't quite figure out how to make that work. How do you get the pieces lined up so they stay in the correct places and don't slide around?

How lovely! I never had school projects to make dolls for, sniff. It's hart to explain in words how to make a two piece head. When is your deadline for the project? I could try to make a tutorial, if I find the time :)

Thank you for responding! ^^ And yes, it's my senior show actually, so I can do whatever I want for it. The dolls are only part of a larger project that spans several media forms. The due date is technically just when I graduate which is next july, so I've got till then to work. But I'm wanting to get the two dolls done over the winter semester since it's my off track and I won't be at school, so I'll have lots of spare time to work. So if you did find time for a tutorial or something simple I'd be so grateful!

And p.s., if you're curious, the doll I'm wanting to make have a poseable mouth is a sort of snake/shark creature. The other doll is a human, which I'm doing a bjd doll for instead of steel wire skeleton like the animal doll.
